The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) marks its 53rd year with its highly anticipated 42nd Concert Season, “MODULATIO,” running from September 2026 to April 2027. Under the baton of Maestro Nowak, the season highlights the orchestra’s versatility through a diverse program of classical masterpieces, Filipino compositions, and performances by acclaimed international and Filipino soloists.
The season opens on September 25, 2026 with Concert I – Da Capo, featuring works by Filipino composer Jeffrey Ching and Austrian composer Carl Czerny, alongside Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 “Emperor,” performed by Spanish pianist Martin Garcia Garcia. The succeeding concerts explore different musical styles, including Concert II – Elegance on October 16 with harpist Vien Ignacio, and Concert III – Bolero on November 6 featuring violinist Kaycee Galano and works by Debussy, Ravel, and Saint-Saëns.
The PPO continues the season with Concert IV – Destiny on December 4, featuring Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Symphony No. 3 “Eroica,” and Piano Concerto No. 4 with Italian pianist Mario Galeani. The New Year begins with Concert V – Genesis on January 15, 2027, featuring the premiere of Filipino composer Jerry Dadap’s Symphony No. 5 and internationally acclaimed Russian-American pianist Natasha Paremski performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3.
February and March bring Concert VI – Resilience and Concert VII – Visions, featuring works by Shostakovich, Schumann, and Franck. Filipino violinist Diomedes Saraza Jr. and Korean violinist Ju-Young Baek will join the PPO as featured soloists, performing major violin concertos alongside the orchestra.
The season culminates with Concert VIII – Al Fine on April 16, 2027, marking the PPO’s return to the newly rehabilitated Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater). The finale will feature Ukrainian violinist Dmytro Udovychenko, soloists and chorus, and works including Jeffrey Ching’s completion of selected fragments from Mozart’s unfinished Requiem and Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, alongside Elgar’s Violin Concerto.
Concerts I, III, IV, and V will be held at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati, while Concerts II, VI, and VII will take place at The Metropolitan Theater. Through Modulatio, the PPO continues its mission of bringing orchestral music to Filipino audiences while showcasing Filipino artistry alongside distinguished musicians from around the world.
