Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto take on a sweeping romance as Apollo and Luna in Star Cinema’s “Always Yours, Never Mine,” opening in Philippine cinemas on September 30. Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana and written by Vanessa R. Valdez, the romantic drama follows the couple’s lives across three decades, showing how their relationship evolves through different seasons of their lives.
The film explores love, destiny, and the choices that shape who we become. As Apollo and Luna encounter different stages and versions of themselves, the story asks a deeply personal question: Can loving someone too much keep them from becoming the person they are meant to be?
“Yung kwento po kasi ng ‘Always Yours, Never Mine,’ it spans 30 years, that’s why you’ll see the characters of Apollo and Luna in different stages and seasons of their lives,” Vanessa shared. “Ang magandang matatanong mo sa sarili mo kapag pinanood mo ang pelikulang ito: ‘Sa pagmamahal ko ba sa isang tao, napigilan ko siya na maging kung sino siya talaga dapat maging?’”
For Vanessa, the movie goes beyond romance and looks at the bigger picture of life, choices, and the paths people take or leave behind.
“I don’t think this is just a love story; it’s actually a life story. It’s about how we love our lives, the choices we make, and even the choices we don’t make,” she added.
Joining Joshua and Julia in the film are Bianca Umali, Chandra Romero, Joy Barcoma, Bob Jbeili, Karen Reyes, Migs Almendras, Paulo Angeles, Ina Raymundo, Franco Laurel, Reign Parani, and Jan Silverio.
Following its Philippine release, “Always Yours, Never Mine” will also screen internationally, with releases in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Australia, and New Zealand beginning October 22; the US, Canada, and Guam on October 23; the UK and Austria on October 31; and Spain, France, and Italy on November 1.
The film will also hold special international premieres featuring meet-and-greet sessions with Joshua and Julia. In London, the European premiere will take place at Genesis Cinema on October 31, with screenings at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. A Madrid premiere will follow at Palacio de la Prensa Cinema on November 1, with screenings at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
