Emerging singer-songwriter Shawn Crab turns life’s uncertainties into an uplifting musical journey with her latest single, “Ocean,” a self-penned love song that encourages listeners to find courage in the people who matter most.
Produced by StarPop label head Roque “Rox” Santos, “Ocean” draws inspiration from the vast and mysterious sea, using it as a metaphor for navigating life’s unexpected turns. Through heartfelt lyrics, Shawn reflects on facing fear and uncertainty while finding the strength to keep moving forward with the love and support of those who make the journey worthwhile.
At just 17, Shawn is steadily making her mark as an artist, creating music shaped by her emotions, experiences, and perspective on growing up. Originally from the US, the daughter of actress-comedienne Cheena Crab moved to the Philippines to pursue her passion for songwriting and performing.
“Why would I give up as an artist if every song I write is one step closer to my dream?” Shawn shared on social media earlier this year, reflecting her determination to pursue music.
Her musical journey began at age 10 when she started learning the piano. A year later, she was already writing her own songs, using music to express thoughts and emotions that can be difficult to put into words. Inspired by international artists including Billie Eilish, Frank Ocean, and Clairo, Shawn continues to develop a sound that reflects her evolving artistry.
She began her journey as an independent artist in 2023 with the singles “This Fall, I’m Falling Hard” and “Is It Too Late?” She joined StarPop in 2025 and went on to release “Love Has Come My Way,” “Labo,” and “Tago,” introducing more Filipino music fans to her distinct voice and songwriting style.
With “Ocean,” Shawn continues to chart her own course as a young artist unafraid to embrace life’s uncertainties and turn them into music.
