The third round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship resumed on Saturday at Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi, bringing together promising athletes in the under-14 and under-16 categories. With high-level performances and refined technique on display, the event once again highlighted the rapid development of jiu-jitsu in the UAE and the role of clubs and academies in cultivating the next generation of champions.

As the day wrapped up, Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club continued to dominate the overall rankings, holding first place. Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club followed in second, with Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club in third—reflecting a tight race among the country’s top youth programs.

The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of families and supporters, creating a vibrant and encouraging atmosphere. The strong turnout reflected the growing popularity of the sport and the positive values it promotes, including discipline, respect, and community spirit.

H.E. Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said the championship is a cornerstone of the Federation’s efforts to develop the sport, particularly by focusing on youth categories which are vital to long-term success. He explained that the ranking system motivates clubs to improve training and performance, raising the competitive level and expanding participation across the country.

Al Jazira Youth Team coach Mohammed Haitham shared that the team prepared thoroughly for this round, both physically and mentally. He praised the athletes for executing their game plan with focus and discipline, which strengthens their chances in the final standings.

Parents were equally engaged in the experience. Munira Hassan, whose children Saif, Saud, and Meera Al Balushi all competed, said jiu-jitsu helps her children balance school and sports while learning important life skills such as time management and goal-setting. She added that their involvement in the championship has made them more disciplined and focused both on and off the mat.

The third round concludes on Sunday, May 4, with under-12 athletes taking center stage. Clubs and academies from across the UAE are expected to participate in full force, capping off another exciting chapter in the nation’s jiu-jitsu journey.
