Being true to their core values and corporate responsibility, SM Supermalls through SM Cares, a division of SM Foundation that focuses on mall-based projects that provide equitable access and service for people with special needs created a campaign for our beloved senior citizens. Last December 8 before Christmas, they had the “Pamaskong Handog para sa Senior Citizens” activity that incorporated musical entertainment by both special star performers and the seniors themselves. There’s also inspirational talks and messages of solidarity and gift-giving that they truly enjoy.
Aside from the Christmas event for senior citizens, SM Cares spearheads various activities for the welfare of the senior citizens by providing them courtesy lanes in the malls, complimentary health and fitness classes, and computer literacy sessions to seniors.
Even they already retired from their works but still they can handle to work and simply wanted to work, SM Supermalls created a “Casual Employment for Senior Citizens” program which gives senior citizens a chance to work in SM Malls nationwide as greeters and ushers.
Every month they have the Senior Citizen Day per clusters and areas that offers fitness and wellness activities for them at the same time gain new friends.
