Three months after the release of his The Songwriter and The Hitmakers album, Universal Records awarded Ogie Alcasid Gold Award because of the outstanding sales of his album in the market. The Gold Award was given to Ogie by the Universal Records General Manager Kathleen Dy-Go. The Songwriter and The Hitmakers album celebrates Ogie Alcasid’s 25 years in the entertainment industry as an actor, singer and songwriter that produces hit songs and became part of the lives of every Filipinos.
In his The Songwriter and The Hitmakers album, Ogie handpicked 18 songs that are very close to his heart performed by him, his wife Regine Velasquez and fellow singers including Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Piolo Pascual, Christian Bautista, Sarah Geronimo, Arnel Pineda, Noel Cabangon, Richard Poon, Jed Madela, Kuh Ledesma, Rachelle Ann Go, Kyla, JayR and Jaya. The album contains both hit songs and new songs written by Ogie Alcasid.
Songs included in his album are Ikaw Ang Aking Pangarap, Sino Ako, Kailangan Kita, Pangako, Walang Iba, Tanging Ikaw Lamang, Ikaw Lamang, Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka, Mula Ngayon, Tayong Dalawa, Ikaw Ang Pag-ibig Ko, To You, Tanging Ikaw, Kung Mawawala Ka, Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw, Mga Nakaw Na Sandali, Why Don’t We Give, and Ang Puso Ko.
