An unexpected encounter blossoms into something more when “Merry Berry Love” premieres October 7 on Disney+ Philippines, bringing together Korean star Ji Changwook and Japanese actress Mio Imada in a cross-cultural romantic comedy.
Set on a picturesque Japanese island, the series follows hardworking strawberry farmer Karin Shirahama, who dedicates herself to growing the finest strawberries. Her peaceful routine takes an unexpected turn when Lee Yubin, a down-on-his-luck city boy, arrives on the island. After an awkward first meeting and a hilarious misunderstanding, the unlikely pair find themselves spending more time together, paving the way for an unexpected romance.
Ji Changwook, known for “The Manipulated” and “The Worst of Evil,” stars as space planner Lee Yubin, while Mio Imada of “Tokyo Revengers” plays strawberry farmer Karin Shirahama. The series is directed by Kim Soojung (“Semantic Error”) and Roh Youngsub (“My Lovely Liar”), written by Lee Jaeyoon (“Divorce Insurance”), and developed and produced by CJ ENM, the company behind “Crash Landing on You” and “Queen of Tears.” Disney and Nippon TV also serve as co-producers.
“Merry Berry Love” joins Disney+’s growing lineup of Asian romance titles. Fans can also enjoy romantic series such as “Perfect Crown,” which follows a Grand Prince and a Korean conglomerate heir in a marriage of convenience, and “Soundtrack #1,” which explores the complicated relationship between a struggling songwriter and her best friend of 19 years.
