Netflix has unveiled the poster of Balaraw, an upcoming Filipino Original horror-mystery series starring Janine Gutierrez that explores Philippine folklore, island secrets, and psychological horror. The series is set to premiere globally on October 29, 2026, exclusively on Netflix.
Gutierrez plays Sabina, a young woman who travels to the secluded Balaraw Island in search of her mother, who has been missing for years. Armed with a cryptic clue, she arrives at an isolated community that conceals dark secrets and ancient rituals.
As Sabina investigates her mother’s disappearance, she discovers that the island holds mysteries beyond what she expected. Her search for answers becomes a terrifying ordeal as she confronts the dangers surrounding Balaraw and learns that leaving the island may be far more difficult than arriving.

“The island has long been calling for Sabina. What kind of danger lies ahead for her on an island shrouded in mystery?” Netflix shared alongside the release of the series’ official trailer.
Directed by Rae Red, known for Babae at Baril, Balaraw combines atmospheric psychological horror with elements drawn from Philippine myths and legends. The series features an ensemble cast that includes Agot Isidro, Charlie Dizon, Romnick Sarmenta, Ronnie Lazaro, Nonie Buencamino, Teroy Guzman, and Archi Adamos.
With its remote island setting, unsettling rituals, and a mystery tied to a missing mother, the series brings Filipino folk horror to the screen just in time for the Halloween season.
Balaraw premieres globally on October 29, 2026, exclusively on Netflix.
