Filipino horror is heading to a global audience as Balaraw: Blood Island, also known as Balaraw, premieres on Netflix on October 29, 2026.
Directed by Rae Red (Babae at Baril) and produced by Epicmedia Productions, the upcoming Filipino Original horror-mystery series stars Janine Gutierrez, Agot Isidro, and Charlie Dizon in a story that combines Philippine folklore, family secrets, and supernatural suspense.

Gutierrez plays Sabina Tejeros, a woman who has spent years searching for answers after the mysterious disappearance of her mother, Rebecca, portrayed by Agot Isidro. When a new clue emerges, Sabina travels to an uncharted island where she encounters terrifying supernatural entities and uncovers secrets that may be tied to her own family.
Charlie Dizon stars as Bulak Bernabe, who accompanies Sabina on her dangerous journey. The ensemble also includes Romnick Sarmenta, Ronnie Lazaro, Nonie Buencamino, Teroy Guzman, and Archi Adamos.
Named after the ancient Filipino double-edged dagger, Balaraw explores the emotional bond between a mother and daughter against the backdrop of Philippine folklore and atmospheric horror.
