Netflix has officially announced the production of “Two Cops and Five Kids,” an upcoming family action-comedy film headlined by Korean stars Cha Tae-hyun and Uhm Ji-won.
The film follows Dong-sik, a detective and father of five, whose life is turned upside down when his wife suddenly leaves on what appears to be a trip but is actually a secret mission. Left to care for their children alone while preparing for his promotion exam, Dong-sik soon finds himself and his family unexpectedly caught in an operation to bring down a criminal organization.
Cha Tae-hyun, known for his roles in Moving and Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds, takes on the role of Dong-sik, balancing the challenges of police work with the chaos of raising five children. The role promises a mix of action, comedy, and heartfelt family moments.
Joining him is Uhm Ji-won, whose recent projects include Dear Hongrang and Little Women. She plays Kyung-ah, Dong-sik’s wife and a former elite police officer who put her career on hold for a decade to raise their family. Her return to the field begins when she accepts a covert assignment from the National Intelligence Service, setting the story’s action-packed events in motion.
The film also marks the first on-screen collaboration between Cha Tae-hyun and Uhm Ji-won. Completing the family are the couple’s five children—Spring (Do Young-seo), Summer (Kim Na-eun), Autumn (Jung Han-sol), Winter (Sim Ji-an), and April (Kim Ra-hee)—whose distinct personalities promise a lively and heartwarming family dynamic.
Helming the project is director Kim Jong-hyun, known for Mr. Gam’s Victory and Run Off. Recognized for blending ensemble storytelling, humor, and emotional warmth, Kim is set to deliver a film that combines thrilling action with heartfelt family moments.
