The supernatural comedy-drama “Nurse the Dead” delivers its most emotional chapter yet as Noa and the spirit of her mother, Tess, confront the inevitable in the season finale, now streaming exclusively on iWant.
Marking the conclusion of the first Filipino-produced series filmed in Hollywood, the finale raises the stakes with a heartfelt story about love, loss, family, and sacrifice while maintaining the show’s signature blend of supernatural thrills, humor, and drama.
Reflecting on the journey, showrunner and creator Mark Labella expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support the series has received from Filipino audiences around the world.
“I was on the frontlines during the pandemic. And I knew, for the longest time, that I wanted to write a show on Filipino nurses. I wanted to ensure that my goal is to put Filipino faces and stories in Hollywood. This is our best chance to do it because this series speaks to us all Filipinos,” he shared.
Lead actress Jelynn Malone also spoke about the significance of portraying Noa, saying the role became both a tribute to overseas Filipino nurses and a personal love letter to her family.
“This is the greatest honor of my life to be able to play this role. I get to represent so many Filipinos. This has also been a love letter for me to thank and honor my dad’s sister. If it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t have this life,” she said.
Joining Malone in the series are Anthony Jennings, Princess Punzalan, Ruby Rodriguez, Gigette Reyes, and Tootsie Guevara, who round out the ensemble cast.
In the season finale, Noa (Jelynn Malone) continues caring for patients at Ward 5 alongside her fellow nurses and the spirit of her late mother, Tess (Gigette Reyes). But as Tess’ time in the mortal world comes to an end, Noa must prepare for the heartbreaking possibility of saying goodbye once again.
Meanwhile, Grim (Anthony Jennings), who has gradually developed compassion for humanity, does everything he can to extend Tess’ stay. His efforts, however, are interrupted when the Archangel steps in to complete the mission that has long remained unfinished.
Ahead of the finale, the cast and creative team also held a red carpet screening in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where audiences praised the series for its unique mix of supernatural comedy and heartfelt storytelling, while celebrating the talents of Filipino creatives and the show’s authentic portrayal of the Filipino migrant experience.
