At first we all thought that the famous line “Babawi tayo sa Miss Universe” in connection with the defeat of Manny Pacquiao against Floyd Mayweather Jr was another meme trying cheer-up the Filipino people. It happens several times during international games such as boxing, basketball and football where we will do rebounds through international pageants such as Miss Universe. But this time is now a joke or a meme to brighten up the Filipino community instead the candidate for next Miss Universe Pageant Pia Wurtzbach posted it on her official Twitter account.
At first she was excited for Manny in his boxing fight with Mayweather Jr until her comments shifted to sympathy and later anger in connection with the result of the fight. She posted “Naiinis ako. Nakakagalit! Nakakaiyak. Nakakatulala.” (She was annoyed, angry, she wanted to cry and don’t know what to do). Then she post “Di ko matangap” (She cannot accept it). And the last message that somewhat cheered the Filipino people when she posted “Kalma lang guys. Ako bahala. Babawi tayo sa Miss Universe” (Calm down, its my turn to avenge in the Miss Universe).
Everyone replied that Pia need to ensure the coveted crown of Miss Universe whereas Olivia Culpo from USA defeated Janine Tugonon during Miss Universe 2012. But on 1973, Margarita Moran won the Miss Universe title defeating Amanda Jones of USA.
With the statement of Pia, it will be another pressure on her shoulder to win the crown after candidates including Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup, Ariela Arida, Miriam Quiambao Janine Tugonon almost had it.
