Baguio-based singer-songwriter Plume explores this poignant question in his latest single, “Ikot,” released under AltG Records. Blending heartfelt lyricism with emotional vulnerability, the track reflects on bittersweet farewells and the realization that not every ending is caused by someone’s mistakes—sometimes, it’s simply fate.
Inspired by a deeply personal conversation with his girlfriend, “Ikot” began with a simple but thought-provoking question: What if one of you disappeared the next day? How would you say goodbye? That conversation became the emotional foundation of the song, which chooses acceptance over blame and comfort over heartbreak.
As Plume shared, “The inspiration was a conversation between me and my girlfriend: ‘If you were to disappear the next day, how would you tell the other person?’ I want listeners to feel that goodbyes can be bittersweet. Sometimes a breakup isn’t really anyone’s fault. Sometimes it’s simply fate—that you’re no longer meant for each other.”
