Prime Video has announced that Elle, the highly anticipated prequel series to the beloved Legally Blonde franchise, will premiere on July 1. Produced by Hello Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios, the series will be available exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Ahead of its debut, Prime Video has also renewed Elle for a second season.
Set years before the events of the original Legally Blonde film, Season One follows Elle Woods during her high school years, offering fans a closer look at the experiences and defining moments that shaped her into the confident and inspiring young woman audiences first fell in love with.

“Twenty-five years after the world met Elle Woods for the first time, it’s a dream come true to share the story of how she became the unstoppable force we all fell in love with,” said Reese Witherspoon. “Discovering Lexi Minetree and watching her step into Elle’s fabulous shoes has been one of the most gratifying experiences of my career. I believe the series’ themes of kindness, authenticity, and self-belief will resonate with longtime fans and a new generation of viewers alike.”
Witherspoon also shared her excitement about continuing the journey beyond the first season, adding that bringing Elle’s high school story to life alongside the creative team at Hello Sunshine, Amazon MGM Studios, and the series’ writers and directors has been a rewarding experience.

Peter Friedlander, Global Head of Television at Amazon MGM Studios, said the series captures the optimism, confidence, and heart that made Elle Woods a cultural icon while introducing audiences to a fresh coming-of-age story. He added that the early renewal reflects the studio’s confidence in the creative vision and talented team behind the project.
Created by Laura Kittrell (High School, Insecure), Elle is co-showrun and executive produced by Kittrell and Caroline Dries. Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Marc Platt, and Amanda Brown also serve as executive producers. Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) directed the first two episodes and is also an executive producer.
The cast is led by Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods, alongside June Diane Raphael as her mother Eva and Tom Everett Scott as her father Wyatt. The ensemble also includes Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney, and Zac Looker, with recurring appearances from Jessica Belkin, Logan Shroyer, Amy Pietz, Matt Ober, Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada, and James Van Der Beek.
