Out of 49 candidates hailed from different regions of the country including countries like USA, Australia and Belgium who promotes environmental cause, Jaime Herrel from Cebu City was crowned as Miss Philippines Earth 2014 in the evening of May 11 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Herrel doesn’t only outshine her fellow candidates with her beauty and elegance but also in her witty answer to the question of feminist and social activist Risa Hontiveros who was former Akbayan Representative which was “Is human beings have been good children to Mother Earth.”
Herrell answered the question with a short and confident direct answer “no as humans are the main cause of Mother Earth’s problems.” Her answer receives applause and approval from the audience who witness the competition live in MOA Area.
Joining Herrell in her success – are Miss Philippines Eco-tourism 2014 Monique Manuel from Dinalupihan, Bataan, Miss Philippines Earth Fire 2014 Bianca Paz from Gapan City, Miss Philippines Earth Water 2014 Kim Covert from Dumaguete City and Miss Philippines Earth Air 2014 Diane Querrer from Tanauan City.
Herrell succeeds Miss Earth Philippines 2013 Angelee Claudett delos Reyes. The Miss Earth Philippines 2014 Coronation Night was hosted by Robi Domingo and Miss Earth Philippines 2008 Karla Henry.
