We did miss the iconic beetle car of Volkswagen (VW) here in the Philippines that be came a hit in the 60s up to the 90s with some models present in the early 2000. But last Friday (September 27), Volkswagen is officially back in the country and automobile market with the help of the Ayala Automotive Holdings Corporation, a company under the Ayala Corporation. It takes a car aficionado like Fernando Zobel de Ayala, the President and Chief Operating Officer of Ayala Corporation to understand and be the bridge of Volkswagen to go back in the Philippine market. Together with the Executive Vice President of Volkswagen AG, President Commercial Operations of Greater China and ASEAN Mr. Weiming Soh who shared how Volkswagen a European car works its way in the Asia and penetrated the automobile industry including China, Japan, Singapore,  Hong Kong, South Korea and now targeting the Philippines.

In line with their goal to re-enter the Philippine market with the help of Ayala Corporation they introduced a bigger lineup of new models that they showcased at the Ayala Tower One and Exchange Plaza at their event tagged as “The Time is Now”. Models include Touareg, Touran, Tiguan, Phaeton, Golf, CC, Polo Hatchback, Beetle Cabriolet and the Beetle Classic.

According to Zobel de Ayala, they will be opening the first Volkswagen service and sales store at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig and before the year end another one will be located at the Greenfield area in Mandaluyong.  And lastly on the first quarter of 2014 the third store will be in Cebu City.

Celebrating the return of the People’s Car in the Philippines,  Volkswagen will be having a promo where they will be raffling a 21st model of Volkswagen Beetle to a lucky person who will try answers all the trivia. To join this promo, visit the Greenbelt area in Makati City and visit the Volkswagen models and answer all the trivias in order to earn a raffle entry.  This is a rare opportunity to own and be one of the first persons to drive the latest model of Volkswagen. The 21st century model I am talking about is the convertible Beetle that on my photo that Fernando used during his speech. So visit Greenbelt now and test your luck.
