WFP National Ambassador KC Concepcion to visit the victims of Typhoon Pablo

In line with the on-going assistance of World Food Programme (WFP) to the victims of Typhoon Pablo (Bopha) in Mindanao, their National Ambassador Against Hunger KC Concepcion will be joining the WFP Philippine team in reaching out to them. The badly affected areas include Compostela Valley, Davao Oriental, Lanao del Sur and the CARAGA regions that includes five provinces: Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Islands; six cities: Bayugan, Butuan, Cabadbaran, Surigao, Tandag, Bislig; 67 municipalities and 1,311 barangays. Butuan City is the regional center.

KC Concepcion together with WFP will be visiting the Compostela Valley in the afternoon of December 12 to be part of the relief operations with the area at the same time to give confidence and strength in their spirits as they look forward in standing up from these challenges. She will be at the Barangay Cabinuangan, New Bataan, Compostela Valley helping in distribution of relief goods with volunteers and officials of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

KC Concepcion’s activity with the WFP in Compostela Valley is part of the long term assistance of the humanitarian agency to the 400, 000 people affected by Typhoon Pablo. The assistance will run until 2013 where as the organization appeals for US$21.6 million that will also benefit the program that will provide specialized nutritious foods to 80,000 children in the worst-affected areas and 60,000 pregnant and nursing mothers.
