Netflix has confirmed production of The Shooter (working title), a new action noir series starring Lee Jung-eun, Kim Moo-yul, Huh Joon-ho, Choi Sung-eun, Bae Na-ra, Seo Hyun-woo, and Moon Jong-won.
Directed by Lee Kwon (A Shop for Killers) and written by Kim Hee-su, the series follows Jeong Suk-ja, a woman in her seventies whose quiet life changes when her grandson is brutally attacked and left fighting for his life. Determined to uncover the truth and seek revenge, Suk-ja picks up a gun for the first time since her youth and becomes entangled with the powerful criminal organization behind the attack, Chunghwa Group.
Lee Jung-eun takes on the lead role of Suk-ja, marking her first action performance after acclaimed appearances in Light Shop, Daily Dose of Sunshine, and My Daughter Is a Zombie. Having raised her grandson alone while working at a restaurant, Suk-ja is driven by grief and rage as she begins her pursuit of those responsible.
Kim Moo-yul plays Seo Yeon-woo, Suk-ja’s ally and the mastermind who reveals the connection between her grandson’s attack and Chunghwa Group. While he provides Suk-ja with crucial information and sharp judgment, his own motives remain unclear, creating an uneasy partnership as they pursue the truth.
Huh Joon-ho plays Jang Kwang-cheol, the former leader of the Heukseong Gang who now serves as chairman of Chunghwa Group. Choi Sung-eun portrays Shin Ji-hyun, head of the group’s China office and director of Operations Unit 3, while Bae Na-ra plays Cheon Tae-seok, the chairman’s assistant and director of Operations Unit 2.
Seo Hyun-woo takes on the role of Yoo Il-koo, the black sheep of Chunghwa Group and director of Operations Unit 4, while Moon Jong-won plays Um Sang-pil, the owner of a bed-and-breakfast with a mysterious past.
Produced by Studio Dragon and presented by Netflix, The Shooter promises a tense story filled with revenge, hidden motives, criminal power struggles, and unexpected alliances. The series will premiere exclusively on Netflix.
