Nearly eight years after its release, Kyle Echarri’s 2018 dance-pop single “Pangako” is enjoying a new wave of popularity, fueled by a TikTok dance challenge and lyric-video edits that have brought the song back into the spotlight.
The viral resurgence has earned “Pangako” a spot on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100, entering the chart at No. 94 this week.
“This song is almost 8 years old but thank you everyone who’s listening to it again,” Kyle wrote on X, expressing his gratitude to listeners who have rediscovered the track.
Fans quickly filled the comments with praise for the song’s lasting appeal, with many also calling on the singer-actor to release another album. Kyle first captured the public’s attention as a contestant on the second season of The Voice Kids Philippines and has since established himself as both a recording artist and actor.
“Pangako” was composed by Gabriel Tagadtad, arranged by Theo Martel, and produced by StarPop label head Roque “Rox” Santos. The track was part of Kyle’s self-titled album, released in 2018, and he first performed it live at the 2018 MYX Music Awards at the Araneta Coliseum.
The song’s renewed momentum adds to its already impressive digital footprint, with more than 23 million streams on Spotify and over 14 million views for its official music video on YouTube.
