Following the success of Firefly, the MMFF 2023 Best Picture and Best Screenplay winner, GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs proudly present Green Bones, their entry to the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival. Co-produced with Brightburn Entertainment and distributed by Columbia Pictures, the film promises an inspiring story for the holiday season.

Dennis Trillo leads the cast as Domingo Zamora, a prisoner nearing release after serving time for his sister’s murder. Ruru Madrid makes his MMFF debut as Xavier Gonzaga, a prison guard determined to keep Zamora behind bars. Haunted by his own sister’s tragic death, Xavier suspects that Zamora’s transformation is a façade.

Rooted in the belief that “green bones” signify a person’s goodness in life, the film unravels themes of redemption, doubt, and forgiveness. The gripping drama is brought to life by director Zig Dulay (Firefly, Maria Clara at Ibarra), based on an original concept by JC Rubio, with a screenplay by National Artist Ricky Lee and MMFF awardee Anj Atienza.

The star-studded cast includes Michael de Mesa, Ronnie Lazaro, Wendell Ramos, Alessandra de Rossi, with special appearances by Iza Calzado and Nonie Buencamino. Mikoy Morales, Royce Cabrera, Sofia Pablo, Kylie Padilla, Pauline Mendoza, and others complete the ensemble.

Distributed by Columbia Pictures for Sony Pictures Releasing International, Green Bones opens in theaters on December 25.
