Resiko Entertainment Production proudly presents Paquil, a poignant and culturally rich film exploring themes of faith, identity, and the enduring significance of heritage. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lemuel Lorca and written by screenwriter Archie Del Mundo, the film features Beauty Gonzalez in a captivating performance as Christina, a former actress grappling with mortality while embarking on a mission to revive the fading art of Komedya. Set in her ancestral hometown of Pakil, Laguna, Christina’s journey is both a tribute to tradition and a celebration of the Filipino spirit.

In Paquil, Christina returns to the historic town of Pakil, where personal and professional struggles drive her to restore the Komedya, a classical theatrical tradition deeply rooted in the town’s history. As preparations unfold for the revered Turumba Festival, Christina’s story intertwines with the community’s devotion to Our Lady of Turumba, Pakil’s patron saint. Her heartfelt prayers for strength and healing echo through the festival’s rituals, creating a powerful narrative of resilience and faith.

Starring alongside Gonzalez is JM de Guzman as Paolo, a talented yet conflicted musician navigating his own inner battles. United by a shared desire for redemption, Christina and Paolo forge a profound connection. Their efforts to rejuvenate the Komedya not only revitalize the town’s cultural identity but also lead to personal healing and transformation. Through their shared journey, Paquil highlights the unifying and restorative power of tradition.

The film boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Yayo Aguila as Rosario, Christina’s supportive relative; Lou Veloso as Claudio, a veteran Komedya performer confronting his own challenges; Kych Yamamoto as Ramon, Christina’s grandfather and an ardent advocate for Komedya; VJ Mendoza and Arnold Reyes in pivotal roles; and Lilet Esteban as Bing, Christina’s mother, whose struggles deepen Christina’s pursuit of reconciliation and self-discovery.

As the Turumba Festival reaches its crescendo, Paquil captures a spiritual and emotional awakening for Christina. Her unwavering commitment to the Komedya and her faith lead to a transformative moment of acceptance and purpose. Blending the vibrant traditions of Pakil with a deeply moving narrative, the film is a testament to the resilience, cultural pride, and faith that define the Filipino spirit.

Produced under the visionary leadership of Vincent Soriano, Paquil is more than a film—it is a celebration of art, heritage, and community. With its premiere this fall, the film extends an invitation to audiences to embark on a profound journey set against the rich cultural landscape of Pakil.

Paquil opens in Philippine cinemas on February 12, 2025, brought to you by Resiko Entertainment Production.
