The GMA Afternoon Prime court drama series Lilet Matias: Attorney-at-Law officially announces the arrival of Tom Rodriguez as the latest character, playing the role of Attorney Renan Alon. This was mentioned in various Kapuso programs, including 24 Oras, Unang Hirit, and most recently It’s Showtime, where he appeared alongside the lead actress, Jo Berry.
His character will enter the series a few days after the death of Attorney Meredith Simmons, portrayed by Maricel Laxa. In the story, she is murdered on the night of her birthday celebration and is found by her newly discovered daughter, Lilet (Berry), and Aera (Analyn Barro). The suspects include Patricia Valdez-Engano (the wife of Lilet’s father), Ramir Engano (Lilet’s father), Constantino and Lorena de Leon (the mother of the accused son in the case Meredith is handling), Ces Matias (Lilet’s guardian), and Inno de Leon (the accused son in the case Meredith is handling).

During Tom and Jo’s visit to It’s Showtime on October 4, Jo announced that their series will be moving to an earlier timeslot after It’s Showtime, with broadcasts from Monday to Saturday beginning October 21. This change confirms that they will replace the top-rated Abot-Kamay Na Langit, which will bid goodbye on GMA Afternoon Prime on October 19. The new afternoon block of GMA Network will feature Lilet Matias: Attorney-at-Law, followed by Shining Inheritance, and lastly the new series Forever Young, starring Euwenn Mikaell, the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival Best Child Performer for the movie Firefly from GMA Pictures.
