Kapuso actor Tom Rodriguez makes his much-awaited primetime comeback as Oscar “Oca” Asuncion in GMA Prime’s hit action-drama series The Master Cutter: Anak ng Sinulid, headlined by Dingdong Dantes.
The series’ latest chapter follows Atoy (Dingdong) on another dangerous mission, where he discovers that his long-lost brother-in-arms, Oca, is still alive. After surviving a violent ship explosion by saving each other, the former comrades reunite in an emotional encounter.
However, Oca’s return brings unresolved pain and resentment. Carrying the weight of his past, he tries to avoid conflict with Atoy, who introduces him to the community of Tabang-Lupa. Oca struggles to understand how Atoy managed to build a new life with the people of the barangay while he endured his own hardships.
Tom expressed gratitude for the opportunity to join the top-rating series, describing the experience as a blessing.
“Dingdong is amazing, sila ni Sienna [Stevens] and Audrey played by Max Collins, grabe ‘yung chemistry nila. ‘Yung chemistry ng buong Barangay Tabang-Lupa. Kaya to be part of that, I feel blessed,” he shared in an interview.
With Oca’s return, questions arise about the future of his relationship with Atoy. Will the two former comrades reunite as allies, or will Oca’s unresolved wounds turn him into Atoy’s greatest adversary?
Joining Tom in the second book of The Master Cutter: Anak ng Sinulid are Sparkle artists Herlene Budol and Ahtisa Manalo, along with father-and-son tandem Benjie Paras and Andre Paras.
Catch the action and drama of The Master Cutter: Anak ng Sinulid weeknights at 8 p.m. on GMA Prime. The series is also available for streaming on Netflix.
