Last September 4, the Queen of Soap Opera and TV host Judy Ann Santos started her taping in the movie remake of the 1988 classic horror film T’yanak directed by Lore Reyes and Peque Gallaga. The 1988 film featured Janice de Belen, Carmina Villaroel, Mary Walter, Lotlot de Leon, Bella Flores and Ramon Christopher. It was popularly known with the line that became an expression of those who watched the film and later passed it to generations and the line is “Oh my God.. ang anak ni Janice!” It pertains to the tiyanak or demon child that Janice adapted.

Now the 2014 film stars Judy Ann still directed by Lore and Peque. With a modern touch the film will reboot and presented in the modern world making everyone believe as the watch the movie that the Tiyanak will live together with the new cast. Tom Rodriguez, Solenn Heussaff and Sid Lucero will be joining Judy Ann on the film. In the reboot only Judy Ann carries the original name which is Julie but the rest there were changes.

Solenn will be Madie who brought home the demon child, Tom is Mark who doubted in the existence of the t’yanak and lastly Sid is Joeben who will try to kill the demon child even in its human form. Unlike the 1988 movie where Julie a childless woman who adapted the child she found abandoned and later found out that it is a demon in disguise, the 2014 version adds more layer in the story to bring more horrifying scenes that viewers will surely hold on to their seats.

T’yanak is one of the horror film that will be included in the Horror Festival organized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
