Opening this October at the Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT) in Resorts World Manila, Cinderella will feature a powerful cast of theater actors and singers to life to the well-loved fairytale character. Beginning October 9, theater lovers and guests of Resorts World Manila will have the chance to see Christian Bautista as the Prince Charming and Karylle as Cinderella in the NPAT center stage which will be directed by theater actor veteran Michael Williams.
Aside from Karylle and Christian, one of the actors to look forward in this musical is Sweet Plantado who will be playing the wicked step mother of Cinderella. She will be doing the role alternately with another theater veteran Pinky Marquez who did numerous theater performances. Sweet is a member of the group The Company and appeared in various reality-variety shows and did theater performances.
Sweet is very happy to return to theater acting. She mentioned that her peg in her character as the wicked step mother is the character did by Anjelica Huston in Ever After a spin-off of the Cinderella story that stars Drew Barrymore. At the same time jokingly she mentioned that the character she’s doing is just her natural self which everyone had a good laugh. Playing her daughters in the story are Gianna Ocampo and Maronne Cruz.
After seeing Sound of Music and The King and I, theater lovers should look forward on the story-book like setting of the Resorts World Manila presentation of Cinderella. From the stage design, costume, LED graphics and most of all the magic that young and young at hearts will really enjoy. The performances will start on October 9 and schedules will be Thursday (8PM), Friday (4PM and 8PM), Saturday (3PM and 7PM) and Sunday 3PM and 7PM).
