Janus del Prado stars in Maalaala Mo Kaya’s presentation of Bonsai’s life story

The longest running drama anthology of Asia – Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) brings another story that tackles acceptance and understanding to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender with the presentation of the life story of Bonsai. Janus del Prado was chosen by MMK to play the role of Bonsai, a gay person who faces challenges and disapproval from his family after coming out with his sexuality.

The MMK episode that will air this Saturday (April 14) follows the journey of Bonsai from the time he admits to his family about his sexuality and all the rejections that he encountered with his family and people around him. With the pain he encountered from his family, Bonsai left for Manila where he he enjoys the freedom of expressing his sexuality, Bonsai became shocked and terrified with the sight of his youngest sister Lencie (Trina Legaspi) as a lesbian. With the fear of seeing his sister experience what he has been through, Bonsai will to protect her sister from the discrimination and judgment of their family and the people around them.

This episode also stars Sharmaine Suarez, Gloria Sevilla, Ismael Clavero, Kyline Alcantara, Jong Cuenco, CJ Navato, Simon Ibarra, and Amante Pulido. It was researched by Alexndra Mae Martin, written by Benson Logronio and directed by Nuel Naval.
