From the group that conceptualizes Red Crab, Heaven n’ Eggs and Claw Daddy introduces another restaurant that serves dishes that is new to the diners in Nuvali but something they will never forget. I’m referring to John Bamboo, an Indonesian inspired restaurant that serves Indonesian dishes that is unique and unforgettable. I had the chance to try some dishes of John Bamboo and I’m telling you that they way dishes were presented it is very mouth watering and appealing to the eyes.

John Bamboo serves dishes from mild to extreme chili in flavor, which you will enjoy eating it with friends and family. Here are the dishes I tried in John Bamboo:

(Soup Buntot – Classic Indonesian oxtail soup P245)
(Balinese Seafood Chowder – Creamy Seafood soup with Indonesian spices P265)

(Lumpiang Semarang – Fried Spring Roll stuffed with Bamboo Shoots P165)

(Bakwan Janung Manis – sweet corn fritters with shrimp P155)

(Bebek Panggang Goreng Sambal – Fried Crispy Duck with assorted sauce P595)

(Beef Semur – Beef Stewed in Sweet Soy Sauce with baby potatoes and cherry tomatoes P279)

(Classic Pork Sate – Grilled Pork Loin Skewers with Peanut Sauce P178 for 6 sticks, P298 for 12 sticks)

(Classic Chicken Sate – Grilled Marinated Chicken Skewers with Peanut Sauce P169 for 6 sticks, P288 for 12 sticks)

(Tumis Kangkong Dengan Tempe – Sauteed Kangkong with chili and fried fermented Soybeans P185)

(Bihun Goreng – Fried Noodles with vegetables, chicken and shrimps P255)

Among the dishes I tried, Buntot Soup is one of my favorite. I thought the buntot soup is part of the main course and I only need a cup of rice and I’m ok with a bowl of it. Indonesian is known with their sate or barbecue, in John Bamboo they serve it with a brick like small grill that preserves the warmness of the food that is best to be eaten when it its warm and tender. Lumpia Semarang, Tumis Kangkong Dengan Tempe and Bebek Panggang Goreng Sambal were the dishes I really recommend to those who will be visiting John Bamboo to try something new and who wants to try an Indonesian cuisine.

But aside from the dishes, beverages are also one of the things that diners should look forward to in John Bamboo. My personal choices were the mix fruits drink and the passion fruit topped beverages that have fizzed on it.

Lastly, when we talk about concept stores or restaurants it is very essential that it has the ambiance or set up should be base from the products or food that they offer. John Bamboo has minimalist approach of an Indonesian feeling from the window designs, red chairs and a pillar in the entrance. Simple and minimalist is something i like rather than the big and over crowded.

John Bamboo is open from 10am-12 midnight; they serve lunch as early as 10am. They are planning to serve breakfast soon and will be opening as early as 8am by that time. Aside from Nuvali in Sta. Rosa Laguna they are planning to open branches in Makati, Ortigas and Quezon City to let more diners try their Indonesian dishes.
