Gladys Reyes brings back memories of one of Philippine television’s most iconic teleseryes with the release of her music video for “Primera Kontrabida,” featuring special appearances from her former Mara Clara co-stars, including Judy Ann Santos.
Staying true to her memorable kontrabida image, Gladys adds a nostalgic teleserye feel to her first-ever music video, giving fans a glimpse of familiar faces and memorable moments from her years in the entertainment industry.
“I want it to be nostalgic, iconic. It has a teleserye touch. But aside from that, gusto ko pang may maging participation yung mga naging kasama ko sa mga teleserye,” she shared.
Joining Gladys in the music video are Susan Africa, Juan Rodrigo, Wowee de Guzman, the Universal Motion Dancers, and her husband and Mara Clara co-star Christopher Roxas.
Known for her unforgettable portrayals of antagonistic characters, Gladys is now embracing another side of her artistry as today’s “kontradiva.” The Star Magic talent is grateful for the opportunity to showcase her musical abilities through an original song, drawing from her longtime passion for singing and performing in shows both locally and abroad.
“In my many years in the industry, never pa ako nabigyan ng chance to have my own song. Dream come true or answered prayer po na mabigyan ng kantang bagay na bagay pa sa akin,” Gladys said.
ABS-CBN Music creatives, content, and operations head Jonathan Manalo composed “Primera Kontrabida” and co-produced it with StarPop label head Roque “Rox” Santos.
Beyond her debut single, Gladys is also set to record five more songs for her upcoming EP under StarPop, marking another milestone in her entertainment career.
