Filipino-Dutch singer-songwriter and producer Acoya explores the thrill of unexpected attraction and the emotions that linger after a fleeting encounter in his five-track EP, “Hookup Hangover,” released under ABS-CBN Music International (AMI).
Blending contemporary pop and R&B with intimate storytelling, the EP takes listeners through one unforgettable night, from the excitement of meeting someone new to the realization that a seemingly casual connection may leave a deeper emotional impact.
“‘Hookup Hangover’ is about that feeling when you meet someone and get so caught up in the moment that you forget to think about what happens next,” Acoya said.
“I wanted to capture everything that comes with that experience, the excitement, the chemistry, the vulnerability, and waking up the next morning realizing that maybe it meant more to you than you expected. Each song represents a different part of that night, and together, they tell a story that I think a lot of people can relate to,” he added.
The EP features five tracks: “DUI,” “Rendezvous,” “Runaway,” “Love Song,” and “Hookup Hangover.” Together, they form a narrative about infatuation, desire, vulnerability, and the complicated emotions that can emerge from fleeting relationships.

The journey begins with “DUI,” Acoya’s previously released single about the intoxicating feeling of falling for someone. “Rendezvous” follows with the anticipation and flirtation of a budding connection, while “Runaway” captures the adrenaline of giving in to impulsive attraction.
The mood shifts with “Love Song,” as a spontaneous encounter begins to take on a deeper meaning. The EP concludes with its title track, “Hookup Hangover,” which examines the emotional aftermath of a brief romance and the difficulty of moving on when feelings remain.
Born and raised in San Francisco and now based in Los Angeles, Acoya continues to develop his sound in the pop and R&B scene. He trained at the Los Angeles Academy for Artists & Music Production (LAAMP), where he received mentorship from acclaimed production duo Stargate, further shaping his approach to music production and emotionally driven songwriting.
Acoya also reached another milestone in his career as an opening act for the Rohnert Park and San Diego stops of BINI’s “Signals” World Tour 2026.
With “Hookup Hangover,” Acoya captures the rush of falling for someone, the vulnerability of wanting more, and the lingering emotions that surface when the night is over.
The “Hookup Hangover” EP is available on all digital streaming platforms.
