Grammy Award-winning artist Apl.de.Ap celebrates his Filipino roots and calls for unity through PPP (Power to the Pilipino People), his first solo EP outside the Black Eyed Peas, released under GMA Music.
Featuring three tracks, the EP marks a deeply personal milestone for the global music icon, who hopes to inspire Filipinos through songs that reflect the country’s culture, values, and language. Combining themes of love, hope, and peace, PPP serves as both a tribute to his homeland and a reminder of the power of collective action.
“This is my first solo EP apart from the Black Eyed Peas,” Apl shared. “I wanted to make sure it represented who I am as a Filipino, and I dedicate it to my home country, the Philippines. This EP comes from my love for the Philippines, with songs that hopefully will inspire and empower every Filipino.”
The EP’s lead single, “Why,” features OPM rock icon Bamboo and explores the love and heartbreak that come with caring deeply for one’s country. The song encourages both leaders and citizens to prioritize the common good, uphold integrity, and work toward positive change.

“‘Why’ is a love letter to the country. And like any love story, there is heartbreak in what’s happening,” Apl explained. “It’s a shoutout to leaders and people in position, to care about the country and our countrymen, to act in the best interest of all and not just personal interests, and for Filipinos to not accept what’s happening and to stand up for their rights.”
Apl also expressed his appreciation for collaborating with Bamboo, describing him as an artist he deeply respects. The collaboration, he said, fulfills a long-standing dream and reflects their shared love for the Philippines.
Meanwhile, “Turn Around,” featuring Filipino-American artist and fellow Black Eyed Peas member J. Rey Soul, highlights resilience and the importance of holding on to hope amid life’s challenges.
“After going through a tough time with all the challenges we face as individuals and as a nation, we can continue to hope. I am singing this song for myself also to help me overcome life’s challenges,” Apl said.

Completing the three-track EP is “Pinoy United,” featuring Datu Khomeini, known as the King of Moro Songs. Inspired by the peace process and the rich cultural heritage of Mindanao, the track celebrates unity and gives voice to the traditions and identity of communities in the southern Philippines.
Through PPP, Apl.de.Ap brings together global musical influences and Filipino storytelling to deliver a message of national pride and solidarity. The project underscores his continued commitment to incorporating Filipino words, culture, and values into his music.
“My music always reflects who I am, with Filipino words, culture, and values incorporated into it,” Apl said. “This EP is really about love, peace, and hope for the Filipino people.”
Apl.de.Ap’s PPP (Power to the Pilipino People), released under GMA Music, is now available on major streaming platforms worldwide.
