Anime fans received a wave of exciting announcements as Crunchyroll took the stage at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles, unveiling new theatrical releases, upcoming series, exclusive trailers, and first-look reveals during the annual Crunchyroll Showcase on July 3 at the Peacock Theater.
Hosted by Tim Lyu and Lauren Moore, the showcase featured major announcements from some of the most anticipated anime titles, including the reveal of Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, a first look at the characters of Ghost of Tsushima Legends, and new details on upcoming anime releases.
Solo Leveling continues with new theatrical film
One of the biggest moments of the showcase came when Aleks Le, the English voice actor of Sung Jinwoo, revealed that the Solo Leveling story will continue with a new anime theatrical film titled Solo Leveling: Beyond the System.
Currently in production, the film will directly continue the events of Season 2 and bring fans back into the world of Sung Jinwoo. The project is animated by acclaimed studio A-1 Pictures, known for titles such as Sword Art Online.
Produced by Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C MEDIA, Kakao Piccoma, and Crunchyroll, the upcoming film also unveiled a teaser key visual and promotional concept video during the showcase. Further details will be announced at a later date.
Ghost of Tsushima Legends reveals character first look
Crunchyroll also gave fans an early glimpse of the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima Legends anime adaptation, revealing character designs for the highly anticipated series.

Based on the popular action-adventure game, the anime follows one of the last remaining samurai defending Tsushima against the Mongol Empire. The series is being developed through a collaboration between Crunchyroll, Aniplex, Sony Music, and PlayStation Productions.
Director Takanobu Mizuno will lead the adaptation, with HAYATE Inc. overseeing production. The creative team includes writers Satoshi Maejima and Gen Urobuchi, with Urobuchi also handling story composition, character designs by Takashi Okazaki, and animation production by KAMIKAZE DOUGA.
Additional production details and a premiere date will be revealed in the future.
New anime titles and returning favorites announced

Crunchyroll also shared updates on several upcoming series, including The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All, which surprised audiences with the announcement that Nirvana’s “Breed” will serve as its opening theme. The series follows high schooler Aya, whose love for rock music leads her to a mysterious connection with a stylish CD shop employee who is secretly her female classmate Mitsuki.
The showcase also featured updates on:
- Kagurabachi – Fans received an exclusive first look at Chihiro Rokuhira’s provisional character design sheet, along with a special Q&A featuring Japanese voice actor Taihi Kimura.
- The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 5 – Naofumi’s next adventure continues with new challenges and threats involving the Cardinal Heroes.
- Dengeki Daisy – The romantic comedy series unveiled its worldwide premiere trailer ahead of its 2027 release.
- Magical Buffs – The Support Caster is Stronger Than He Realized! – The fantasy series arrives on Crunchyroll in January 2027.
- The Vermilion Mask – The upcoming series follows Peru, a mask maker’s apprentice who must confront the dangerous power of the “Mask of the Warrior God.”
- Overgeared – The fantasy adventure follows Grid, a low-level player who discovers a legendary class and begins a journey toward becoming a powerful blacksmith in the virtual world of Satisfy.
