Rekonek is an upcoming Philippine family drama film directed by Jade Castro under Reality MM Studios and is set to be one of the official entries in the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). The film explores how modern Filipino families respond when technology suddenly fails, following the lives of six separate families affected by a global internet outage that occurs just ten days before Christmas.

The story begins with a worldwide internet blackout that disrupts communication, work, and daily routines. With digital connections severed, the families are forced to engage with one another face-to-face, confronting unresolved conflicts and emotional distance. As Christmas draws nearer, the film highlights themes of love, forgiveness, and the rediscovery of traditional Filipino values, emphasizing the importance of genuine human connection over screens. The concept was developed by Reality MM co-founder Erik Matti, who envisioned the film as a reflection of contemporary life in an increasingly digital world.

Rekonek also marks Gerald Anderson’s debut as a producer, in addition to his role as one of the film’s lead actors. The ensemble cast includes Bela Padilla, Andrea Brillantes, Charlie Dizon, Zoren Legaspi, Carmina Villarroel, Cassy Legaspi, Mavy Legaspi, Gloria Diaz, Angel Guardian, Kokoy de Santos, Kelvin Miranda, and Alexa Miro, portraying interconnected stories across different generations and family dynamics.

Partially filmed in Thailand, Rekonek presents a multi-narrative structure that captures the emotional complexities of family life during the holiday season. By focusing on reconnection in the absence of technology, the film offers a heartfelt and timely reminder of the true spirit of Christmas and the enduring power of human relationships.
