GMA Network caps the year with a festive gift for viewers as it showcases timeless films from the legendary “Da King” of Philippine cinema, Fernando Poe Jr., through a special month-long lineup on FPJ sa GMA.
The celebration begins on December 7 with the 1973 romantic-comedy Karnabal, where a lively traveling fair sets the stage for a charming tale. FPJ stars as a talented mechanic who falls in love with Susan Roces’ character, the daughter of a carnival owner. Their captivating on-screen chemistry unfolds amid a whirl of humor, romance, and classic action.
Rolling in next on December 14 is Isa-Isa Lang (1985), a gripping billiards drama about Carding (FPJ), a skilled player who uses the sport to provide for his family. When he’s wrongfully accused of cheating, he and Marianne Dela Riva’s character find themselves caught in a tense fight for justice.
A heartwarming Christmas treat awaits on December 21 with Little Christmas Tree (1977), featuring the powerhouse tandem of FPJ and Nora Aunor. The film follows a man determined to seek justice for his family while holding steadfast to his principles.
Closing the holiday roster on December 28 is Ang Alamat ng Lawin, FPJ’s 2002 MMFF entry where he portrays the heroic Lawin. The adventure follows a group of children who are transported to a mystical realm and team up with the warrior to conquer looming evil. The film also stands as Poe’s final work as a director.
