Showing in all cinemas nationwide beginning November 23, Working Beks is third gay-themed movie that aired in mainstream in just two months. During the press conference, a member of the entertainment press asked the cast about the difference of the movie from The Third Party and Bakit Lahat ng Gwapo may Boyfriend? that aired last October. John Lapus, one of the lead stars of the film immediately said that the other two movies is a romantic movies focusing on love while Working Beks is about gays who became bread winners of their family.
Lapus explained that it is more family centered as a whole at the same time following the journey of the individual characters.
Working Beks is a movie inspired from Ishmael Bernal’s Working Girls in 1984, the film follows John Lapus, TJ Trinidad, Joey Paras, Edgar Allan Guzman and Prince Stefan under the direction of Chris Martinez and produced by Viva Films. The film follows the story of the characters who are all gays. Some are very open about it and others who are trying to hide it. But the common thing that unites them is working for their family.
