SM Supermalls has revealed its mysterious #SMFeb30th post in social media with the launch of its 30th anniversary celebration. Playing around with the number 30 as its central idea for all anniversary-related activities, SM will kick off its 2016 festivities with a Super 30 Sale on select items beginning, not on Feb. 30 as believed by avid netizens, but on Monday, February 29.
“It’s always good to have our customers excited about something great, even if it’s going to be a surprise. We wanted to launch our 30th Anniversary Sale soonest but February only has 29 days. What were we to do?” said SM Supermalls Senior Vice President for Marketing Jon Jon San Agustin, with a smile.
Two weeks ago, SM released an announcement through its social media accounts, indicating that “something grand is happening on Feb 30”. The post elicited mixed reactions from thousands of SM’s FB and Twitter followers. With the revelation that the first of many 30th anniversary sales will be held on February 29, consumers are expecting a number of special offers, promotions and discounts on that day.
Some of the activities on February 29 include items on sale at 30% discount, P30 off and “30 deals” such as free movies for epass users, gift certificates for the lucky 30th customer and 30 extra SMAC points with every P3000 purchase at The SM Store.
“Part of the anniversary activities are that we are sending 30 lucky families of 4 to Hongkong Disneyland and 30 lucky SM Store shoppers in VisMin can win trips to Los Angeles and other Asian destinations via Philippine Airlines. SM Markets will also offer customers who swipe at the kiosks and spend a minimum of P1000 worth of their favorite Gardenia 400g white bread loaves at only P30.” San Agustin added.
Aside from the anniversary sale, SM customers can also avail of 30% discounts on bowling, free Skyranch rides, and 30% off on unlimited ice skating. Grab Taxi is likewise giving P30 off to select SM Malls.
SM malls have created the mall culture that continues to amaze both local and foreign shoppers, adding leisure and entertainment into the shopping experience for families and friends to enjoy.
