With thousands of communters in Metro Manila became affected with the preparation and actual event of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2015 that includes cancellation of several flights, and heavy traffic that requires communters to walk going to their work and going home, the word “APECtado” was coined to describe the situation they endured. The actual APEC 2015 event happened on November 18-19 but heavy traffic caused by the APEC lane and dry run was felt a week earlier. With so many ranting online, others defend the government saying that APEC can help the country’s economy.
As APEC ended last Nov. 19, Presidential sister Kris Aquino posted a photo of her in a bathroom showing her sun burn. In her caption: “Quits na tayo sa lahat ng nahirapan mag commute these past few days, patas ang mundo, patche patche naman ang balat ko.” Telling commuters who endured the pain of heavy traffic that she endured the pain with her post APEC sun-burn because of their activity with the spouses of the APEC leaders that they toured in Intramuros. Aquino’s statement generates mixed reactions from the netizens. Most were disappointed with it telling not to compare her sunburn with the pain that communters endured because of the heavy traffic.
