It was a tough basketball game between the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers and De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers at the Final 3 showdown for the Men’s Basketball Game at the Season 76 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) that happened at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. During the first game, UST defeated DLSU while in the second game the Green Archers bulls eyed the Growling Tigers on the second game. And now on the game 3, DSLU is now back on the map of UAAP being the champion for this season.

During the first half until the third quarter of the game, UST took the advantage with their front men Kevin Ferrer and Jeric Teng with sure points on their court. But the big men of DLSU namely Jeron Teng, Jason Perkins, Almond Vosotros and Arnold Van Opstal tried to pull the game to their favour where it became a close fight at the fourth quarter having as 65-65 scores on the last few seconds of the game that led to an overtime (OT) game that dictates the winner for this season.

Meanwhile, on the OT Game the first score came from the Green Archers which immediately countered by the Growling Tigers. And the game ended with a 3-point shot plus a free throw that gave DLSU 71 points versus UST with 69. Jeron Teng was awarded as the MVP for this season.

The last battle between DLSU and UST happened in 1999 where Green Archers won the game and now after 14 years DLSU is still the champion of the court. One of the highlights for this season are the Teng brothers who came from rival schools.

DLSU Green Archers joins their fellow Lady Archers who won the Women’s Game for this season. DLSU got their last victory in the Season 70 (2007-2008) but their last straight winnings were in Season 61 to 64 (1998-2002). The Season 76 of UAAP was hosted by Adamson University.
