After the success of the first United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) – Philippines Auction for Action last may 2011 that generates more than 1.4 Million Pesos that will benefit UNICEF-Philippines project in the country particularly on education, relief and nutrition project in urban and disaster prone areas in the country and most especially conflict areas in Central and Northern Mindanao where most of children and mothers were became victims of malnutrition and displacements. There were more than 40 items were sold online via UNICEF-Philippines’ Auction for Action hub eBay Philippines. Now with more items and bigger target in order to support more affected communities UNICEF Philippines brings back on its second year the Auction for Action that will happen on October 1-7, 2012 with more items to be included with the help of UNICEF Philippines Special Advocate for Children Daphne Oseña-Paez.
There are more than 80 items including Daphne’s special chair that looks like from a doll house. The Auction for Action of UNICEF has the “Play” theme to give every artist who will be taking part of the advocacy and fund raising to showcase their craft and make it universal, playful and appealing to everyone who once in their lives became a child. All the items are 100% Filipino made which we can be proud of from the design and innovation. There are furniture and home accessories made by Kenneth Cobonpue, Debbie Palao, and Ito Kish; sculptures made by passion and love by Michael Cacnio, Seb Chua, and Daniel dela Cruz, paintings and other avant grande artworks that everyone will surely enjoy to bid during the online auction. One of the highlights in the auction is the inclusion of the two KawayanTech bikes that made other counties amazed in the talent of the Filipino artists and innovators.
According to Daphne, she was overwhelmed with the support of those who take part of the auction last year and she is looking forward to raise more funds for the projects of UNICEF. She already immerse herself in most of the field activities of UNICEF and it was an eye opener for her to see children and mothers who became victims of malnutrition, conflict and displacement which according to her it gives big impact to her life and strengthen her dedication as an advocate of UNICEF. She is also looking forward to gain support from the UNICEF head office in this project to make it big and special.
