After being with Universal Records for almost 10 years, The Voice Jed Madela signed contract with Star Records last Thursday (September 7, 2012) and set to release his first album early 2013. Jed is a mainstay of the top-rating afternoon musical variety show of ABS-CBN entitled ASAP 2012 and part of the Star Magic family. According to Jed he is looking forward for the release of his album next year where it is currently on the creation process headed by Star Record’s Jonathan Manalo. The album will still have the kind of songs where Jed is known for according to Jonathan during the press conference. But he also mentioned that they are trying to add more spices on the album where Jed’s followers will truly appreciate and sees more potential as a total performer. His first single under Star Records will be release before the end of the year according to Manalo.
According to Jed, he didn’t fully ended his relationship with Universal Records and he is very thankful that they welcome him to the music industry with the help of the late Bella Tan. He already works with Star Records before for collaboration projects including the multi-platinum album Walang Hanggan Soundtrack and Dahil sa Pag-Ibig. Jed also mentioned that he is looking forward to collaborate with other artist and even writing his own song which according to Jonathan he believes in the talent of Jed that he can create his own songs and mark it. It was Jed’s dream to write his own song that everyone will remember and connect it to his name even it will be revived by others in the future.
Aside from working on his album, Jed also dreams to do stage play or act in the future like his fellow ASAP artists including Zsa Zsa Padilla, Gary Valenciano, Aiza Seguerra and Vina Morales that recently appeared in a film and musical play. He revealed that he wanted to audition to the Phantom of the Opera that’s currently staging at the Cultural Center of the Philippines but according to him they didn’t have an audition for the musical.

Lastly, Jed also mentioned that he will be one of the judges of Himig Handog, a songwriting competition in ABS-CBN.
