From its original run at the Main Theater of the Cultural Center of the Philippines from August 25 to September 16, 2012, the Phantom of the Opera in Manila will be extended until September 30 adding 16 more shows to cater the demands the theater aficionados who wanted to watch this Andrew Lloyd Webber’s masterpiece. Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, David Atkins Enterprises, Hi-Definition Radio Inc. and Concertus in association with The Really Useful Group bring this musical masterpiece in the Philippines and also presented by Smart Infinity and Citibank.

The Producer and CEO of Lunchbox Theatrical Productions James Cundall was very pleased to announce the extension of Phantom of the Opera in Manila knowing its more than a month to go before the actual presentation in CCP and everyone already demanded for extension. “It is an enormous privilege to bring Phantom of the Opera to the Philippines for its premiere. I have always believed that audiences here will embrace this unforgettable show and love it as much as I do, so I am delighted to see such a strong demand for tickets, and to be able to offer 16 more performances.” Cundall said.

The Phantom of the Opera is a brilliant masterpiece of Andrew Lloyd Webber that recently celebrated its silver anniversary (25th year) at the West End stage last year. The musical was based from the French novel of Gaston Leroux entitled Le Fantôme de l’Opéra that was published in 1910. It includes 130 cast, crew and orchestra members, jaw-dropping scenery, breathtaking special effects and more than 230 costumes by international designer, the late Maria Björnson making it a world class production.

The musical follows the journey of a beautiful soprano named Christine Daaé who became the object of obsession of mysterious, disfigured musical genius or simply known as the Phantom of the Opera. She became his “student” and teaches her to develop her talent and for Christine he was her Angel of Music. But in the end, obsession consumed the Phantom along with jealousy and pain during the arrival of Raoul, the man whom Christine gives her affection. The Phantom of the Opera celebrates the greatness of love and beauty as shown through the music, characters and production design, perfectly done and presented in a musical that is God’s gift to theater.

The Phantom of the Opera will run in the CCP Main Theatre (Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo) on August 25 to September 30, 2012.
