Call Me Mother, starring Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre, has reached No. 1 on Netflix Philippines’ list of most-watched movies, adding another milestone to the film’s successful run.
The ContentAsia Awards 2026 Silver winner for Best Feature Film or Telemovie Made in Asia premiered on Netflix on August 27 and quickly captured Filipino audiences with its heartwarming and relatable story of motherhood, highlighting the sacrifices and unconditional love of a mother.
Directed by Jun Robles Lana, the film previously won four awards at the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal, including Best Actor for Vice Ganda, Best Child Performer for Lucas Andalio, 3rd Best Picture, and the Gender Sensitivity Award.
Call Me Mother also earned a worldwide box-office gross of P392 million and was selected as the opening film of the Philippines-Japan Film Festival 2026.
The film follows a queer mother, played by Vice Ganda, and her adoptive son, Angelo (Lucas Andalio), whose close bond is challenged when Mara (Nadine Lustre), Angelo’s biological mother, returns and seeks custody of her child.
