Carrie is bringing one of the most iconic horror stories of all time to a new generation as Prime Video releases the first look images from its upcoming Original series based on Carrie.
Set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide this fall, the series marks the first television adaptation of Stephen King’s groundbreaking debut novel and offers a bold reinvention of the classic coming-of-age horror story.
Adapted by visionary showrunner Mike Flanagan, Carrie follows misfit high school student Carrie White, played by Summer Howell, as she struggles to find her place in a world filled with cruelty, judgment, and isolation.

After the sudden death of her father, Carrie is forced to enter the harsh environment of public high school while living under the control of her fiercely protective mother, Margaret White, portrayed by Samantha Sloyan. As she faces a viral bullying scandal, the pressures of social media, and the challenges of adolescence, Carrie begins to discover mysterious telekinetic abilities that change the course of her life.
Told across eight episodes, the series expands Stephen King’s original story by exploring the deeper emotional journeys of its characters and the small choices that lead toward a devastating turning point. The adaptation examines themes of kindness versus cruelty and asks whether Carrie is becoming a hero, a monster, or something far more complex.
Summer Howell takes on the legendary role of Carrie White after an extensive casting search that involved more than 1,000 actors. Joining her in the ensemble are Samantha Sloyan as Margaret White, Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Tota as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, Thalia Dudek as Emaline, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin, and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.

Flanagan serves as writer and executive producer, while also directing four episodes of the series. Stephen King is also attached as executive producer, with the project produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
Originally published in 1974, Carrie launched Stephen King’s celebrated literary career, with the novel becoming a cultural landmark after spending 14 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list and being translated into more than 35 languages. Its 1976 film adaptation directed by Brian De Palma further cemented its legacy, earning Academy Award nominations and becoming one of the most influential horror films in cinema history.
With Mike Flanagan’s signature storytelling and a fresh perspective on Stephen King’s unforgettable creation, Prime Video’s Carrie promises to deliver a haunting exploration of adolescence, trauma, power, and the consequences of being pushed too far.
