ABS-CBN Music is expanding its growing portfolio of labels with the launch of CAT Records, a new imprint dedicated to reimagining timeless Original Pilipino Music (OPM) classics for today’s generation of listeners.

Spearheaded by ABS-CBN’s music publishing group, CAT Records aims to breathe new life into the company’s rich catalog of Filipino songs by giving artists, producers, and musicians the opportunity to create fresh interpretations of beloved compositions. The label seeks to preserve the stories and melodies that have shaped Filipino culture while introducing them to a wider and younger audience through modern arrangements and contemporary sounds.

Leading the first wave of artists under CAT Records are Cifra, Gab Tagadtad, Gino Nazal, Jeri Violago, JM Yosures, SAGA, BRYN, Sarvi, and YellowPad. Each artist brings a unique perspective to classic and contemporary Filipino songs, showcasing the label’s vision of blending heritage with innovation.

Among the upcoming releases is Cifra’s rendition of the OPM classic “Ipagpatawad Mo,” originally composed by Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, collectively known as TVJ. Singer-songwriter and producer Gab Tagadtad also offers a fresh take on “Panaginip Lang” while contributing as one of the producers collaborating closely with the label.

Meanwhile, guitarist Gino Nazal is set to release an instrumental project highlighting his musicianship, while Jeri Violago becomes CAT Records’ first singer-songwriter artist. JM Yosures revisits the socially relevant anthem “Ang Hirap Maging Mahirap,” adding renewed emotional depth to the enduring composition, while SAGA introduces a powerful reinterpretation of “Diamante” that showcases his signature vocal style.

One of CAT Records’ pioneering projects is a collection of smooth jazz instrumental versions of classic songs by 70s icon VST & Co. Produced by acclaimed arranger Sunny Ilacad and performed by saxophonist Jun Figueroa, the collection features beloved hits including “Awitin Mo, Isasayaw Ko” and other fan favorites. The releases begin rolling out today, May 22, 2026.

CAT Records is also working with respected producers and composers including Christian Martinez, Kiko Salazar, Raizo Chabeldin, and Sunny Ilacad, all of whom are helping shape the label’s evolving sound and musical direction.

The launch of CAT Records builds on the decades-long legacy of ABS-CBN Music, from its beginnings as Star Records to its evolution into one of the Philippines’ leading music companies. The label now joins ABS-CBN Music’s growing family of Kapamilya labels, which includes Star Music, StarPop, Inspire Music, DNA Music, Tarsier Records, and ABS-CBN Music International.

By combining heritage and innovation, CAT Records marks a bold new chapter for Filipino music—celebrating the timeless power of great songwriting while paving the way for a new generation of artists to carry OPM into the future.
