Khimo Gumatay has officially released his first full-length album, simply titled “KHIMO,” a soulful celebration of his musical roots and artistic growth.
The Idol Philippines season 2 grand winner brings his signature pop R&B sound to the eight-track album under Star Music, with “Isayaw Mo Lang” as its lead single. The upbeat track encourages listeners to loosen up, let go, and just dance.
Khimo personally wrote five of the album’s songs, including “Isayaw Mo Lang.” Other fresh tracks in the LP include “Di Mapigilan,” “Hush, Baby,” “Kamahalan,” “I’m Home,” and a heartfelt remake of the OPM classic “Hataw Na.” The album also features his previously released singles “Happy Ending” and “Nasunog.”
Before his big win in 2022, Khimo showcased his vocal talent in Tawag ng Tanghalan season 3 and as part of the duo Binary in Your Moment. He previously dropped the singles “Where the Sun Goes,” “My Time,” and “Sino Ka Ba,” the latter included in the soundtrack of The Iron Heart.
Coming from a family of singers, Khimo began playing guitar at age 7. He cites Earth, Wind & Fire, D’Angelo, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, and Marvin Gaye as major influences in shaping his sound.
