After days of speculation, GMA Network has confirmed that Pinoy Big Brother is coming to the Kapuso Network. The confirmation was announced on 24 Oras on January 27, with Iya Villania-Arellano entering the Big Brother House and interviewing Kuya in the confession room.
The new season, marking the 20th anniversary of the Big Brother franchise in the Philippines, will be a collaboration between ABS-CBN Studios and GMA Network and will be called Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition Collab. This edition will feature artists from GMA Network’s Sparkle Artist Center and ABS-CBN’s Star Magic. The selection process and the chosen housemates will be announced soon once the reality show kicks off.
Meanwhile, executives from ABS-CBN Studios and GMA Network are set to sign the contract for the partnership on January 28 at the Big Brother House, located beside the ABS-CBN Compound in Quezon City.
This will be the third celebrity edition of Pinoy Big Brother. The first two celebrity editions had Keanna Reeves and Ruben Gonzaga as big winners. Additionally, the franchise has introduced mixed editions combining regular housemates, celebrities, and teens, such as All In, Lucky 7, and Kumunity Season 10, with Daniel Matsunaga, Maymay Entrata, and Anji Salvacion as their respective winners.
Pinoy Big Brother first aired in 2005, with original hosts Willie Revillame, Toni Gonzaga, and Mariel Rodriguez. Over the course of 17 editions, other hosts have included Bianca Gonzalez, Luis Manzano, Robi Domingo, Kim Chiu, Melai Cantiveros, John Prats, Edward Barber, and Alexa Ilacad.
