Havana Brown (born Angelique Meunier) is a versatile and dynamic performer who has enjoyed over 3.2 million career singles sales and over 37 million Spotify streams. An established DJ and singer she has toured with some of the biggest names in the music industry: Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Enrique Iglesias, Britney Spears, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars. The list goes on. Brown has performed internationally, touring all over the world and in the most vibrant cities of cities such as Tokyo, Paris and Miami As both pop artist and DJ maestro, the phenomenally successful DJ has steadily taken over the charts as well as the clubs and is well known on the EDM circuit and the international stage. When her debut album was finally released, ‘Flashing Lights’ boasted a selection of brilliant producers ad exciting collaborations. Brown has enlisted the creative genius of RedOne (a chief collaborator of Brown, and one who she describes as “He just comes into a room and effortlessly comes up with genius melodies and lyrics…”) Afrojack, R3hab, Cave Kings, Carl Ryden and Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins. The album feautured Brown’s most successful and lauded track, the quadruple-platinum hit song ‘We Run the Night’ featuring Pitbul, that went on to sell 2.5 million copies internationally.
However, it was not the only track to achieve great success. Another collaboration with Pitbull, ‘Last Night’ is one of Brown’s favourites, and recalls the making of it with affection and laughter, “He played it for me and I was like, ‘Bam! This is the jam!’ A couple of days later in Melbourne he set up a studio in his suite and I recorded the song over a beat from Afrojack. The song was actually featured on his album, but I liked it so much I wanted it on my album too.” The tongue in cheek song, ‘Big Banana’, reached double platinum status in her native Australia and shot to number one position in the Billboard Club Dance charts.
Brown’s latest single is “Battle Cry” and features Bebe Rexha and Savi. The video was directed by Squared Division, the creative choreographing team who have most recently worked with Nick Jonas and fellow Australian Iggy Azalea. Brown explained that the song is “really about people believing that you’re vulnerable and you’re easy to walk over. But you’re much stronger than people believe.” She has also recently released, Crave Volume 10, the Diamond Edition.
Brown prides herself on being on trend and perceptive of her audience and fans, she is, as every artist should be, flexible and always ready to keep evolving. With her platinum certified brand of energetic feel-good dance and alluringly dark and sexy pop, the sky is the limit for this young and talented star. “I’m feeling really confident that this album will make people feel happy and want to dance,” she says. “And then it will be time to try something different.”
