Queen of Philippine Rock & Roll Elizabeth Ramsey passes away at 83

Earlier today, Jaya confirmed that her mother Elizabeth Ramsey died while sleeping. It was posted in her Facebook page thanking everyone for the prayers at the same time she said that she is thanking that her mother’s passing is peaceful. Last August she was confined in Philippine Heart Center after suffering a diabetic seizure.

Elizabeth was known with her title of Queen of Philippine Rock & Roll at the same time as the Original Queen of Comedy. She was born in December 3, 1981 in San Carlos City, Negros Ocidental. Her father is a Jamaican marine based in the Philippines and her mother is a Filipina of Spanish descent. Her rose to fame was in 1958 when she won the singing contest in Student Canteen, a noontime show originally aired in ABS-CBN and later transferred to GMA 7 and RPN 9.

One of Elizabeth’s recent TV appearances wan in Your Face Sounds Familiar when she supported Melai Cantiveros transformation of her.
