With his influence to the Filipino people in terms of both entertainment and current events, Boy Abunda was asked by his co-host Kris Aquino if he is running for public office in the 2016 election during their evening talkshow Aquino & Abunda Tonight. Boy immediately answered Kris that he has no plan to run in his hometown in Samar. He further elaborate the reason why he went home is not to plan his political career and he doesn’t want to snatch the honor from his friend Aster Amoyo who invited movie press to visit Tacloban and Boronggan as requested by Kring Kring Gonzales.
According to Boy that it was just a coincidence that media friends are there and so was him because he was invited to host a pageant. He explained that he was invited his friend Eugene Tan and Governor Petilla to be one of the host of Miss Pintados in connection in the Pintados Festival in Tacloban.
He promised Kris that if ever he has a plan to run he will informed her because he will be needing funds.
