Veteran actress Amalia Fuentes confirmed to Inquirer Entertainment’s Bayani San Diego that her only daughter Liezl Martinez, also an actress ended her battle against cancer around 6:15 a.m of March 14, 2015. She’s only 47 when she passed away after she was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer.
Liezl is the wife of Albert Martinez, also an actor with children Alyanna, Alfonso and Alissa. She had a long battle against cancer where she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and after few years she recovered from this until in 2011 she was diagnosed with cancer again but it was located in her lungs.
Her husband Albert never left her side and worked hard in order to support Liezl in her medication. And they decided to remain quiet during this time. She stared her showbiz career as a child star and appeared in several projects including Portrait of an Angel, Liezl at ang 7 hoods, and Ibulong Mo sa Puso.
According to Inquirer.net, Liezl served as one of the members of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) despite of her condition.
