As we enter the second month of the academic year, it is impossible for us to notice the decline in the number of students particularly in the elementary years. The main reason is poverty aside from the distance of schools to their homes and displacement due to calamity and conflict. We firmly believe that education is a right and a must to every child that will help them set their goals in their lives at the same time to fulfill it. But for those who have fortunate enough to go to school still facing the problem of lacking of teaching facilities and classrooms that most of them ended having classes under the shed of trees and covered court of their schools.

Recently, the Ayala Foundation and its Center of Excellence in Public Elementary     Education (CENTEX) will help to address the concern on education that will cater to the children in the poverty line who cannot afford to go to school. CENTEX is a public school learning environment where children from economically disadvantaged families can receive a quality education at par with the best private schools in the country. The project aims to improve the physical, financial and human resource of an ordinary public school to make it model for private and government partnership.

Currently, there are two CENTEX in the country; one in Tondo, Manila and the other one is in Bauana, Batangas. CENTEX became one of the top 5 schools in Metro Manila after getting high ranks regularly in the achievement test. Aside from developing the children in their academic, they also develop their potentials in art, sports, technology, ethics or leadership.

Right now in order to fully operate and help children to enter CENTEX, they are open in three options:

  1. Crowdfunding – Get into the Bayanihan spirit! Let’s help each other reach the goal of raising $6,000.00 in order to send 10 children to CENTEX. Via SocialProject.ph, you can pledge an amount from $10.00 to $2,000.00 and receive special edition, extremely rare items as a token of appreciation.     (https://socialproject.ph/u/ayalafoundation/send-10-kids-to-centex)
  1. A-Deals.com – Shopping for others is a wonderful experience. Log on to www.a-deals.com to shop for the students. Here’s a list of the CENTEX deals available:
  •  Feeding Program for one year: PhP 5,000.00
  • Transportation allowance for one year: PhP 2,800.00
  • School Uniform for one year: PhP 1,000.00
  1. MyRegalo – Philippine credit card holders can log on to the Ayala Foundation page of www.myregalo.com in order to donate online. (https://www.myregalo.com/ayalafoundation/ayalafoundation.asp)

Together we can help send 10 children or more to CENTEX to help them fulfill their dreams to have a better education. Education is everyone’s key to create their future and fulfill it.
